Babak Safarnejad
Harmonica player, Teacher and Composer
Sound of Babak Safarnejad's instrument can be heard in most of the pieces in which the harmonica can be heard. He has played the most important role in introducing Harmnica to the Iranian audience. By recording many pieces, performing in concerts, performing on Iranian radio and television, and giving speeches and performing in Tedtak during the years of his artistic activity he's made many fans for this instrument.
In fact, before him many Iranians weren't familiar with Harmonica. He has mastered both diatonic and chromatic harmonica and has recorded more than 100 pieces.
Babak Safarnejad is now focused on performing quarter tones of the Iranian music with diatonic harmonica and has performed Iranian folk music.

Babak Safarnejad was born on 5th of June 1985 in Tehran. His attitude towards music has been focused on innovation since childhood which led him to learn to play different instruments, and eventually chose harmonica as his main instrument.

His first specialty was playing the piano, which he learned at the age of 9 and then at the age of 13 started his studies at the music conservatory to pursue music academically. In school he chose Ghanoon as his specialized instrument, which he later performed in many concerts. He also has instruments such as
He also learned tonbak, violin and classical guitar with maestros such as Mohammad Ismaili, Akbarpour and Mozaffarian.
He started harmonica on his own at the age of 19 and now has the skills to perform both types of harmonica.

At the age of 44, he released his first official album and also his first Iranian harmonica album called "Old Friend" in
2009, which includes pieces in the styles of jazz, blues, rock, country, gypsy jazz and Irish folk.

In 2010, he formed his own band called "Ahil", which focuses on harmonica in jazz styles.

Other valuable artistic activities include the following:
- Winning first place in the fourth Fajr Music Festival for performing Ghanoon with Neyriz band with Maliheh Saeedi
- Performing solo on Iranian Radio and Television from 2012 to 2010
- Selected as Red Bull Artist in 2011
- Lecture at the University of Tehran entitled: "Iranian view of the Western instrument" in 2012
- Interview with the official YouTube channel Hohner with Konstantin Reinfeld in 2020
- Performed in the international harmonica project entitled "Harmonics of the World" with artists such as Howard Levy,

Collaborations:
Safarnejad has collaborated with many Iranian singers, musicians and bands. He also has performed pieces for some TV series and movies, as well as composing movies sound tracks.

Babak Safarnejad started teaching harmonica in 2005. (More than 4000 so far )
He founded the Harmonica Academy, (an online harmonica training class) in 2019, which has more than 40 hours
Of video designed for 200 training sessions for students in styles such as classical, jazz and blues.
Other educational activities for the development of students include the following:
- Holding more than 31 student concerts for their students
- Cooperation with Hamdelan Nava School and holding 4 student concerts focusing on harmonica
- Holding the first harmonica training workshops in different cities of Iran from 2013 - 2019
